Terms of use
============
Version 1.0, 1 November 2026. Shown before sign-up; the version you accept is recorded.
1. What this is. The DBSheriff demo lets you run read-only SQL against sample databases and watch
DBSheriff, a database activity monitoring product, react to it within a few seconds. It is operated
by Sun AI and Data LLC, Concord, California, USA ("we"). It is for trying and evaluating DBSheriff.
It is not a service we promise to provide.
2. Information only. The demo is provided for your information only, so that you can see how
DBSheriff behaves. It is read-only and is hosted entirely on our own domain and systems, using its
own sample data. We do not install, host or run anything on your systems or network, and the demo
does not connect to them. It is not a trial of DBSheriff in your environment, not a managed or
support service, and not advice. We assume no liability for any issue you experience with your own
systems or data, or for any decision you make, as a result of using the demo or relying on what it
shows. Using DBSheriff in your own environment is governed by a separate agreement, not by these
terms.
3. Who may use it. You must be at least 21 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. By
signing up you confirm that and accept these terms.
4. What you get. After you confirm your e-mail address you get a personal, temporary login to the
demo database (PostgreSQL for now; other engines may be added) and an API token. A sign-in link
works once and for 15 minutes. Your access ends after 2 hours without activity or 24 hours in all,
and you can sign in again.
5. What you may do. Run read-only SQL on the demo databases with the login we give you, in the SQL
box or through the API. Statements that look risky, such as reading a whole sensitive table or
running many statements quickly, are allowed within the limits: that is what the demo is for, and
DBSheriff may stop them or lock your login. Limits: statements up to 4,000 characters, about 60 a
minute (one a second, with a short burst), and 200 rows shown in the SQL box (the API returns up to
1,000).
6. What you must not do.
- Attack or probe anything except the demo databases through your own login. No scanning, no
attempts to escape the database to the server, the network, other visitors, DBSheriff's own
consoles or accounts, or anyone else's systems. If you find a weakness in the demo itself, tell us
at security@dbsheriff.ai and give us reasonable time to fix it before you publish it. We will not
treat good-faith testing that stays within these rules as a breach of these terms.
- Overload the service on purpose, get around the limits, sign up repeatedly to get around a block,
or share your login or token.
- Type personal data, passwords, secrets or anyone's confidential information (see 7).
- Type unlawful, abusive or offensive content.
7. Everything you type is public. The text of every statement you run, with its time and your login
name, is shown on the public monitor and kept in DBSheriff's audit trail. We cannot promise to
remove it. Do not type anything you would not want published.
8. What we may do. DBSheriff may end your statements and lock your login. A locked login stays
locked for up to 24 hours, or until we lift it sooner, and is then removed. While a lock holds, the
e-mail address and the network behind it cannot sign up again. We may block an e-mail address or a
network, end your access, change or reset the demo, or stop it, at any time and without notice.
9. The data. The demo data is sample data: some of it is real public data, some is made up (see the
data notice). Card numbers, salaries and credentials in it are synthetic. Nothing in the demo is
financial or investment advice, and it may be wrong or out of date.
10. No warranty. The demo is provided as it is and as available, with no promise of accuracy,
availability or fitness for any purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all
warranties, express or implied, including those of merchantability, fitness for a particular
purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
11. Limit of liability. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything
connected with the demo is limited to US$10. We are also not liable for indirect, incidental,
special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or business. Nothing in these
terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
12. Our rights. DBSheriff and its name, and the demo software, belong to us. The sample data comes
from the sources and licences in the data notice. If you send us feedback, you allow us to use it
freely, without payment or credit.
13. Changes. We may change these terms. The version in force when you sign in applies to that visit.
14. Law. These terms are governed by the law of the State of California, USA, without regard to its
conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts located in Contra Costa County, California
have exclusive jurisdiction and venue. To the extent the law allows, you may bring a claim only in
your own name and not as a plaintiff or class member in a class or representative action. Rights
that the law of your home country gives you and that cannot be waived are not affected.
15. Contact. Legal questions: support@dbsheriff.ai. Security reports: security@dbsheriff.ai. Mail:
